Hesperidin(Vitamin
P) is a flavanone glycoside found abundantly in citrus fruits.
Its aglycone form is called hesperetin. Its name is
derived from the Hesperides nymphs of Greek mythology.
Hesperidin is believed to play a role in plant defense. It acts as
an antioxidant according to in vitro studies. Hesperidin alone,
or in combination with other citrus bioflavonoids (diosmin, fo
example), is most often used for blood vessel conditions
such as hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and poor circulation

Function
- Antioxidant
Both hesperidin and hesperitin can function as antioxidants. They both have radical scavenging activity.
This means that they stop free radicals from damaging cells.

Hesperidins improve the health of capillaries by reducing the capillary permeability.

Hesperidin and its metabolites can lower inflammation. In cellular models of inflammation, hesperidin administration suppressed iNOS protein levels.
